LAWYER GAMES is the TRUE story of the murder case that gave rise to the book and Clint Eastwood directed motion picture, Midnight In The Garden Of Good And Evil. Unlike those fact-fiction tales, this is the truth—including facts never introduced in a courtroom—told by the original Chief Assistant DA who was there, who was at the scene within an hour of the killing, while the body was still on the floor, who made the decision to arrest the defendant, who assembled the case and tried the first of four murder trials, side by side with the District Attorney.

About Dep Kirkland

Dep Kirkland is an actor, writer, and director currently living in California. A Savannah native, Dep entered the legal field after UGA Law School, practicing privately and in two stints with the District Attorney’s Office, the second as Chief Assistant. Later appointed to head a state agency, Dep was recruited from there to design an Anti-Piracy Task Force for the Satellite Broadcasting & Communications Association, creating a national task force of over 50 former FBI agents.

He did it.

In the early morning hours of May 2, 1981, in the antique-filled study of a mansion in historic downtown Savannah, fifty-year-old James Arthur Williams killed twenty-one-year-old Danny Lewis Hansford with three 9mm slugs from a vintage WWII German Luger. According to Williams, he shot young Hansford in self-defense—because Hansford had tried to kill him with another vintage WWII German Luger.
